    The Townsville Gem and Mineral Show is moving its location this year to the Townsville Sports Precinct, 24 Burke Street, North Ward in 2024.  

    This year’s Gem Show will provide families and individuals of all ages and abilities with a greater opportunity to enjoy the event as a day out, participating in the activities provided, being able to take your time looking through all vendor stalls, as well as being able to sit and enjoy the food and beverages on offer, under a large covered area, with tables and seating provided.  

    The 2024 Gem Show will be bigger and better with more vendors, activities, food, displays and much much more.

    The ‘GemShow’ will be held over two days attracting around 6000 Townsville residents and visitors from around the region.

    Activities will include:

    • 'Sandpit Fossicking' – for the kids and young at heart;
    • 'Gold Panning' – learn to pan for gold, every bag is guaranteed to have gold in it;
    • ‘Pearl Shucking’ – freshwater pearl guaranteed with every oyster;
    • 'Sapphire Fossicking' – purchase a bag of Sapphire dirt and wash it on site, learn how to pick out a rough sapphire;
    • Kids Craft activity - make your own pet rock;
    • Show Bags;
    • Faceting demonstration;
    • Raffles;
    • Member displays - showcasing work created by Gem Club members.

    Delicious Food & Drinks

    • BBQ - Yummy Pulled-Beef rolls & Sausages on bread (onions optional)
    • Sandwiches & Sweets
    • Hot Chips  
    • Softdrinks
    • Water
    • Good Coffee - A coffee van will be onsite.

    Vendors, local and interstate will be onsite selling all things related to gems, minerals and jewellery making.  Find your favourite polished stones and crystals; beads, opals, precious and semi-precious gemstones; even jewellery making and lapidary tools.  For the serious Rockhound you can even purchase your own machinery.

    ATM will be onsite.

    This year we will have around 60 sites available to vendors, site bookings will be on a first-in basis.

    VENUE

    Due to the popularity of our Gem Show it has unfortunately outgrown the Clubhouse premises, which is too small to cater for the number of vendors wanting to attended.  Feedback received after the last Gem Show from vendors and customers indicated that it was too cramped to cater for the crowds of people who attended. Some attending stated that they did not have an opportunity to visit a lot of the stalls because of this. Parking was also one of the major issues raised.

    Luckily we have been able to secure the Townsville Sports Precinct. This venue is large enough to cater for all our regular vendors, plus a few more.  Locally known as "The Red Track", Townsville Sports Precinct is a world-class venue located between the Strand and our iconic Castle Hill.
